Solicitations/Sponsors Information
The Short Answer:
No, thank you. I am not interested in solicitations or sponsorships. Please do NOT spam me with your business even if you are an “eczema business.” It will be flagged and deleted. I am too busy to deal with this potential stream of income that could make me and my followers question my honesty and integrity. It is not worth the stress.
If you still try to send me a message and do not get a response within a week at the lastest, the answer is still no.
The Long Answer:
In a time where everything is being monetized, optimized and that easily overwhelms me with information overload, I want to make it clear that maintaining my integrity within the eczema community is vital. When I started my Youtube channel in August 2017, I never intended to make money off of it. I started it with Michelle Phan in mind—a beauty guru who’s sole intention was education and sharing what she knew worked for her for the love of it and to genuinely help others look and feel better about their appearance.
My social media and online presence on Youtube, Instagram and Tiktok in my mind is first of all community service and paying it forward—a passion project. The content I create about eczema is the content I wish I had access to when I first had it in 1989 and tried to Google search in the 1990s and early 2000s. Something that I hope to be helpful in contributing to the conversation around eczema care and treatment. Something that I hope will make even just one more person’s life a little easier in some way knowing that they are not alone in their struggle.
It is something that I do when I have time amongst my other many interests and entrepreneurial ventures. But it is not something I that I ever expect or hope to become my sole source of income or recognition. My top priority and source of happiness is music which is what I am currently studying and pursuing independently.
So, I am not seeking out freebies or sponsorships or anything of the kind. If I ever promote products or sign up for an affiliate program, I only freely share what I genuinely use, am interested in, have purchased, and like or have looked into and think would be worth trying based on my experience and opinion.
What I share will be up to my discretion. If there is a referral bonus link to a product I have bought before and enjoyed, I will share it, but only if I would put my name on the product and not feel guilty or weird about getting a referral kickback for it because it has actually helped improve my skin, health or quality of life.
I have learned the hard way over the past 30 years of living with this skin and health imbalance that just because a company is branded/marketed/named as an “eczema product” or “eczema company” or has the word “eczema,” “sensitive,” or "hypoallergenic" in it, it doesn’t guarantee that they are a genuinely effective company or product for all eczema warriors. (Having said that, although I am an eczema warrior myself and call myself Eczema Phoenix, I encourage anyone to question my content and whether or not is actually going to be helpful for them or not. I am not a doctor. I make no guarantees. I just share what I know from my own experience and hope it helps others.)
If it’s made by someone who has actually had eczema, I have found in my experience and in my opinion that it is more likely that they will be able to create a product that will be helpful to some if not more warriors and will be less likely to be irritating to the skin. But it is rare that a product is created that is going to be 100% effective for 100% of eczema patients because of allergies to ingredients, even “healthy” ones.
There is also no guarantee that these companies even formulate or make their products to be for sensitive skin or test their products on sensitive skinned people. There are lot of fake eczema accounts who are predators preying on the desperation of eczema warriors for relief selling basic, non-effective, and at worst irritating products. Without learning one’s own patterns and practicing proper discretion when vetting out new products or services, many newbies and veterans find themselves blindly spending hundreds and thousands of dollars for years on these business sharks and often having their skin and bank accounts left worse for it. I know. I am one of them.
So, now you know why I do not want to be approached by solicitors and sponsors even with the best of intentions.
